ABOUT

This Blog

This blog was created to give the dogs that come in and out of my home for fostering a voice. Hopefully through this blog, current foster dog will find their "forever homes" more quickly, and along the way we will be able to show, with knowledgeable and responsible ownership, how friendly, social, affectionate and faithful pit bull type dogs can be.

With any luck, our stories, pictures and videos will encourage other families thinking of fostering a dog in need, to take the next step.

We are always greatly in need of foster homes!

Fostering requires a time commitment of 1-3 months for young dogs and 6-8 months for those that are a bit older. ADR covers all food and veterinary costs, your donation is an open heart and home to help a rescued angel on their way to a Happy Beginning!

Interested? Visit our website and email us for an application!

Together we can find these delightful dogs forever homes. Together, we can make a difference.

My Story

My personal rescue story starts in 2006 with a pit bull type dog named Khan, who came to me through a rescue based out of Windsor, Ontario.

Khan was rescued as a young pup and placed in another foster home by the rescue. As it turned out, this foster home had been taking dogs from several other rescues as well, and when a fire broke out in the home, Khan was left down-and-out, again.

Khan was a great first foster dog. He got along perfectly with my 2 resident dogs from the beginning. He was crate and house trained and already knew several tricks and commands (including “sit pretty” which he surprised us with on day one).

Of course, fostering Khan was not without its challenges. Every dog you foster teaches you something different along the way.

Khan spent nearly 6 months with our family before he found his perfect forever home. During this time I became more and more interested in dog behavior and training. I sought out and apprenticed with an amazing PR+ trainer, and collected a small library full of books on the subject.

I fostered several other dogs for different rescues before deciding in early 2008, to co-found our own rescue with a close friend.

Ador-A-Bull Dog Rescue is a small independent dog rescue. We work with shelters and animal control facilities across Southwestern Ontario to rehome displaced dogs. We also hve a dedicated team on the east coast (NS) who foster and find forever homes for our rescue dogs.

Though our current focus is the bull and terrier breeds being discriminated against by the Ontario Government, we are committed to helping any dog, regardless of breed, on a case by case basis. All of our adoptable dogs have been temperament tested, have received veterinary care, and are fostered in family environments.
